On Friday, May 19, 2023, French Minister of Culture Rima Abdul Malak announced the winners of the call for projects launched as part of France 2030, a strategic state investment program.
Pics Studio was selected in the "Film Studios" category—an important recognition for this ambitious international-scale filmmaking hub.
This designation reflects the French government's commitment to doubling national filming capacity and highlights the strategic importance of audiovisual infrastructure across the country, in line with a broader goal of cultural sovereignty and the relocalization of the image industry.
A Project Anchored in the Heart of the Mediterranean Arc
The Pics Studio project is currently being developed in the Greater Montpellier area, in the Occitanie region. It is part of a vibrant ecosystem well known to producers worldwide for its diverse landscapes, favorable climate, and welcoming infrastructure.
The goal is clear: to offer a one-stop-shop capable of meeting the full range of needs in modern film and television production.
A Complete Ecosystem, Operational by 2027
Designed to host all types of productions, Pics Studio is building a comprehensive set of integrated infrastructures and services, meeting the highest technological and environmental standards. The site is scheduled to open in full by 2027.
The project aims to contribute to the growth of the film and audiovisual sector locally, nationally, and internationally, while generating a significant number of direct and indirect jobs in the region.
Pics Studio is also firmly committed to training, innovation, and supporting creative talent through dedicated programs and facilities.
A Collective and Institutional Momentum
For the past four years, the development of Pics Studio has been supported by a wide range of institutional and territorial partners, including:
- The municipalities of Saint-Gély-du-Fesc, Pérols, and Fabrègues
- The Communauté de Communes du Grand Pic Saint-Loup
- The Montpellier Métropole, the Hérault Department, and the Occitanie Region
